Our team provides vaccines at well-child visits and offers catch-up immunizations to keep your child on track, because preventing illness is one of the most powerful ways to protect their health now and in the future.
Why Immunizations Matter
Vaccines are the safest and most effective methods of preventing serious disease in children. By activating the body's natural immunity, immunizations create long-lasting defenses against infections such as measles, polio, meningitis, and more. Getting your child vaccinated safeguards your child from potentially life-threatening diseases and others in your community, particularly those who cannot be immunized because of age or health.
At Skylands Pediatrics, we know that parents desire what is optimal for their kids. We have staff available to talk about issues you may have regarding childhood vaccinations and to assure you of the science and safety of childhood immunizations. All vaccinations we give have been researched for years and are endorsed wholeheartedly by pediatric health experts.
What to Expect at Your Child’s Vaccination Visit
Vaccines are usually given during your child’s routine well visits. These appointments include a full developmental check, physical exam, and time for parents to ask questions. During the vaccination portion of the visit, our team will walk you through which immunizations are due and what to expect afterward.
Most children experience mild reactions, such as slight swelling at the injection site or a low-grade fever. These are signs that your child’s immune system is building protection. We do everything possible to make the visit as comfortable as possible, with a supportive environment for children and caregivers.
